WE FIND COMBINING GOOD TRIAL DOGS WITH GREAT HILL AND WORK DOGS, WE GET DOGS THAT EXCELL AT ALL LEVELS.
WE DONT BREED BORDER COLLIE PUPPIES VERY OFTEN BUT ONCE IN A WHILE WE NEED REPLACEMENTS FOR TRIALS AND HILL WORK! I LIKE TO HAVE YOUNGSTERS COMMING ON EVERY YEAR FOR NURSERY TRIALS.

Please be careful when purchasing a Border Collie puppy.
Border Collies are not for everyone. Border Collie puppies need plenty of excercise and mental stimulation.
Border Collie puppies need rules in the house to let them know they are not in charge right from day one!.
Try and meet the sire and Dam of your potential Border Collie puppy. This should give you a good idea of what your Border Collie puppy will turn out like.
THEY SHOULD BOTH HAVE GOOD TEMPERAMENTS AND LOOK HEALTHY.

At Northern Lights Border Collies, Border Collies that are snappy, shy or aggressive have NO place in our breeding program.
At Achnacone Farm, TEMPERAMENT and health are paramount when we decide which dogs and bitches to breed from.
THE BLOODLINES MUST BE COMPATIBLE
We study the pedigree of the potential Border collie stud dog
The stud dog must be a good practical worker at home and on the hill.
We study his off spring, and see how they perform on the trials course and at home. We also take note of their temperaments and ask owners of these dogs how natural and how easy they were to train.
This gives us a good idea of the type of Border Collie puppies he is siring.
The Dam must also have excellent working abilities, and have an excellent temperament ..
This will give us a a good indication of the type of pups they will leave.
Some of my pups will make their way into agility and pet homes.

If you decide to take a Border Collie puppy from us, you can visit us and meet brothers,cousins, sisters, or meet mom and dad, grandma aunties and uncles.
Border Collie Puppies are not merchandise that come with a guarantee to function or behave in a certain way....they are living breathing creatures that demand your time, love and affection.
IF you are not prepared to give your time and love to a puppy, please , think twice about getting one!
Watching a puppy grow and develop is a tremendous experience.... however it is your responsibility to ensure that it turns out to be a well behaved, well socialized dog... this is hard work as well as a lot of fun!
